Hi! before writing this I was kissing my redhead daughter Bowen on her eyes and nose, before that I was staring at the blurry white moon, before that I was getting married on the back deck under handmade white dowels hanging from the trees, before that I realized I was pregnant, before that I met the love of my life in a bar, before that I was discussing band after band and seeing everything worth seeing who played New York, before that Hillman and I were working out of my house redesigning eMusic, before that I was waking up at 5am to study everyday for a course at Harvard called Business Strategy for Design Leaders, before that I was hanging my umbrella in a closet before starting the day's work at a factory painting Toledo mannequin heads, before that I was fishing and living in Mexico and commuting to New York, before that I was in San Francisco being a tall designer at Sapient and doing a whole lot of yoga, before that I was examining the salt at Death Valley and looking for ghost towns, before that I drove a red convertible La Maz, before that I thought I would start a line of vintage inspired lingerie called Ms. Steely, before that I took my first “web design” job at Carbon14 in Venice Beach and learned how to sit next to a developer and ask for what I wanted, before that I was the apparel director at Astro in Palo Alto on Emerson Street and Steve Jobs would walk by the glass french doors on his way to work and it was quaint, before that I thought I was going to have a career painting murals, before that I was getting my BFA in Fine Arts from the University of Southern California feeling very out of place, before that I was a model living in Paris and Milan, before that I was heading to the cold beaches of Northern California at 7am to watch friends surf before school, before that...
